Back in 1970, when there were only primitive gyms for men and fitness was virtually non-existent for women, our founder, Lydia Bach, started the women's fitness revolution at her Upper East Side Manhattan studio.
She had practiced directly under the famous Russian dancer turned fitness and orthopedic instructor, Lotte Berk, at Berk's London studio. After a year of study and mastery of the method, the protégé then brought it to the U.S. market, via New York, and went on to author a best selling correlated book called,
the Lotte Berk Method (Awake! Aware! Alive!)

For the past 30 years, Lydia and her team of teachers have continually improved the method by incorporating modern exercise science and muscular development.
